As a young child, Faulks liked to draw and use anything available- thread, crayons, fabric, yarn – to make art. She would mail letters to her grandmother that included her drawings. When she went to visit her, she had a special trunk where she would keep Faulks’ art supplies and the projects she had been working on.

“Because she encouraged me, I continued on with art.”

When Faulks was 10, her parents enrolled her in oil painting classes. She loved walking into the studio where all the art supplies were waiting for her.

“I love art; both creating and viewing it. To me, what people make is an important part of their culture. When I travel, I visit art galleries and museums.”
